Week Three

I finally made it upstairs to at least record what it looks like before we start gutting the house. The flooring will be removed, the dormer window will be replaced, insulation added, the ridge line raised, and the hip roof will be changed to an A-line roof.

The ceiling of the front porch. Unfortunately the whole porch will need to go. Martin and I are trying to figure out if we are keeping the front door in the same place or not. Other questions and discussions are coming up. Do we want a front porch?

Between a snow storm on Tuesday and a trip to Vermont to see about buying a towable backhoe (for digging the septic system, basement, and removing roots), Martin only worked at an tigin for three days this week.  As you can see, the house is emptier, the interior walls are down to the studs, the ceiling is down, and there is less and less stuff in the barn.
We have another truck load of sheetrock and wood to get rid of and the station wagon is full of metal.  I also made another trip to the recycling bins in Cornish with more cardboard and glass.
