Week Five

Martin started the week by taking down as much of the front porch as he could at this point. Roof and support posts will be going, going....

Originally we thought that the house rested on field stone foundation, but with the removal of the porch, you can see the 9 piers made of stacked stones that are supporting the house.

The pile of scrap wood has been sorted and taken care of. Martin took the ceiling down in the kitchen addition this week also.  Sooner rather than later, this entire addition will be history.

Martin took up the flooring in the main part of the house, only subflooring left and that will be gone soon too.

When the weather improved, ie not raining, but still cold and windy, one of the two pine trees was taken down. It didn't land exactly where Martin had anticipated, but no major damage was done.

Kitchen ceiling and floor joists are out.

The first pine tree that we took down last Sunday is cut up and ready to be stacked until it dries out. Martin is going to split it and we'll be burning it, possibly in a fire pit in the yard.

Pine tree number two is down.

We managed to get it limbed and partially cut up.  We'll be finish up tomorrow April 7th, 2013.

The two ornery pine trees that refused to land where we told them to have paid for their misbehavior!  They are chopped up and stacked.  When they are dry, we will split them and burn them!
