Martini stripped the barn down to its bare bones.
Then he replaced anything that was rotten.
Now he is in the process of putting up rafters. He is using the floor joists from the house for rafters.
The old roof on the west side of the barn was not a straight line. It looked like an addition had been put on the barn at some point, or it was originally designed to look that way. To facilitate snow removal from the roof and to clean up the lines of the barn, it is now a straight roof.
The roof on the east side of the barn needs to tie into the house, so Martin needed to rebuild it with snow, rain, etc. issues in mind.
